The objective is to carry out an analysis of the landscape units, the identification of residential units that are in APPs associated with the banks of rivers and flood risk situation within the urban area of the municipality of Currais Novos – RN. A bibliographic survey on the subject was carried out. Analyses were carried out in a SIG environment, with the use of QGIS software, mapping the landscape units, APPs and areas susceptible to flood risk based on morphological variables, morphometric and hydrological. Sixteen geotopes distributed in five geofacies were identified, among which the urbanized Pediplane predominates with more than 50%, then the alluvial plain with degraded caatinga with approximately 12% and the Pediplano with degraded caatinga occupying a little more than 8% of the study area, located within the Borborema Plateau geocomplex.
