Some factors arise in this environment, such as grammar rules, concordances, linguistic and dialectal varieties, among others. As a consequence of these differences, a lot is still constituted between the “right” or “wrong” way of using the language where it is in constant evolution and construction by its transmitters and interlocutors. The object of this qualitative bibliographic research is focused on the linguistic varieties found at school, as well as how the literacy and literacy process takes place in the face of diversities. In this context, the objective of this work is a) to recognize that there is no right or wrong language, b) to understand that diversities must be respected in the entire context, c) to identify the possibility of literacy and literacy in the face of linguistic diversity, d) use diversity in favor of the construction of knowledge. We discuss aspects of literacy and literacy, Portuguese language and its regionalities, standard norms and, finally, linguistic varieties. This work was based on bibliographical research based on the precepts of Brazilian and foreign linguists such as: Labov (1972), Saussure (2008), Bagno (2001), Faraco (2002), Bortoni-Ricardo (2005), among others.
