Identificação e caracterização dos critérios citomorfológicos considerados não clássicos na pesquisa de infecção por Papilomavírus humano: uma revisão de literatura. 2022. 36 p. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Farmácia), Departamento de Farmácia, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2022.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/48515Cervical cancer is still considered one of the biggest public health problems worldwide, affecting a large part of the female population and a significant number of men. The main precursor for this neoplasm is human papillomavirus (HPV), but the evaluation of the so-called classic criteria has not shown a good result regarding the identification of the virus in possible infected patients. From this perspective, this work aimed to carry out a literature review focusing mainly on secondary criteria for the identification and diagnosis of the virus. It is, therefore, a study with a descriptive approach and exploratory research. The selected articles were selected from PubMed, LILACS, SciELO and Embase databases, with a time frame of 20 years. The main descriptors used were: “human papillomavirus”, “koilocytes” and “non-classical signs”. As the analysis progressed, results common to the articles were observed, among them, most evidently, the presence of bi or multinucleation, cellular hyperchromasia, abortive koilocytes and mild dyskeratosis. Thus, the studies evaluated showed significant changes that could easily go unnoticed by conventional analysis. Finally, it was allowed to confirm that the use of non-classical signs, in association with the classic ones, helps in the identification of positive cases for HPV, causing the incidence and mortality rates to be reduced.
