Associação entre vaginose bacteriana e candidíase vulvovaginal: uma revisão integrativa. Orientadora: Deyse de Souza Dantas. 2024. 18 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Farmácia) - Departamento de Análises Clínicas e Toxicológicas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2024.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/58717Bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candidiasis are the most prevalent vaginal infections, and can also occur in the form of mixed vaginitis, that is, the simultaneous existence of the pathogens causing both infections, with bacterial vaginosis common to predispose this situation. With the aim of clarifying the association between bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candidiasis, this review searched the literature for scientific articles that explained this relationship. The methodology used was an integrative review, collecting articles in the PubMed, Lilacs and Scielo databases, published between the years 2014 and 2024. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 4 studies were included that indicated changes in the vaginal microbiota, due to bacterial vaginosis, one of the main reasons for this predisposition to vulvaginal candidiasis, both due to the reduction of resident Lactobacillus, the pathogenicity of the infection, and the action of antimicrobials in the treatment of vaginosis, which also causes dysbiosis. Therefore, a detailed assessment of women's vaginal health becomes essential, in order to propose an adequate and effective treatment for the infections these people are experiencing.
