The host institution is part of the current forms of protection existing in Brazil legally applied in case of violation of children and adolescents’ rights. This form of state intervention is made by entities that care for children and adolescents scattered throughout Brazil, which are in accordance with Article 90 of the ECA(Children and Adolescent Bill) and the Law 12.010 August 3rd of 2009, responsible for planning and executing protection programs and socio-educational for children and adolescents. Among these entities existing service in Brazilian law, which operate under institutional care, can be divided into three types: Small Groups Institutional Shelter, Casa-Lar and Casa de Passagem.
