Along with this idea of discrimination and prejudice, we realized that the legacy left by these people does not receive the respect and the space that should have produced in the approaches in textbooks, in the media and in society as a whole. This study takes as its main source the history textbook entitled History, society and citizenship, Alfredo Boulos Junior, used by the eighth grade class at the Municipal School Professor Raimundo Guerra, realizing how black is representing the texts and images that important teaching tool, responsible for the construction of identities and values. As secondary sources were selected articles, monographs and books of authors who report properly the subject in question. The methodology of such work is qualitative and research is exploratory and descriptive.
