A agricultura familiar no seridó potiguar: um estudo de caso a partir da criação de gado e irrigação em São Fernando- RN. Orientador: Iapony Rodrigues Galvão2025. 12 f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Geografia) - Centro de Ensino Superior do Seridó, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Caicó, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/62385Family farming is fundamental to the Brazilian economy, especially in semi-arid regions such as São Fernando-RN. This work analyzes two rural communities, Riacho Verde and Boa Vista, which develop opposite achievements: Riacho Verde uses irrigation to grow melons, watermelons and beans, while Boa Vista is dedicated to raising animals without irrigation. These differences go beyond the variation between the climate regime, they also imply cultural traditions and survival techniques. Irrigation is one of the fundamental instruments for increasing agricultural production in arid areas, but both communities, to a greater or lesser extent, are hampered by challenges. The high costs of technology and irregular water supply are the problems faced by Riacho Verde. Boa Vista's vulnerabilities come from its dependence on animal husbandry during periods of drought. Access to rural credit, such as PRONAF, becomes essential for the development of small farmers and their work, considering it a gateway to investments and social transformation. This, in turn, would improve the income and quality of life of producersAttribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/Agricultura familiarPecuáriaIrrigaçãoSão FernandoSeridóFamily farmingLivestockIrrigationA agricultura familiar no seridó potiguar: um estudo de caso a partir da criação de gado e irrigação em São Fernando-RNThe family farming in seridó potiguar: a case study from livestock and irrigation in São Fernando-RNbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::GEOGRAFIA
