Homeschooling is an alternative to regular education, in which parents play the role of educator and the home itself is the pedagogical set. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of children had their classes interrupted and started to have remote learning. Thus, there was an impact on the home literacy environment. Purpose: To analyze whether there are differences in home literacy practices between homeschoolers and students from public and private schools, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional, quantitative study, approved by the Research Ethics Committee (CEP), report number 4,425,211. We analyzed 30 children from private, public and homeschoolers between 6 and 11 years old. For collection, the COVID19-HELP questionnaire (brazilian and reduced version) was used with caregivers. Intragroup and intergroup analyzes were performed. Results: In the intragroup analysis, only homeschooling showed a difference in the number of children's printed books during the pandemic. In the intergroup, homeschooling had higher frequencies in shared reading, aloud, number of resources and independent reading. Conclusion: Homeschoolers had higher frequencies of shared reading, reading aloud, number of resources and independent reading.
