Elaboração de um catálogo sísmico para o ano de 2016 no Nordeste do Brasil. 2019. 58 f. TCC (Graduação) - Curso de Geofísica, Centro de Ciências Exatas e da Terra, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2019.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/34357Much of Brazil's seismic activity is concentrated in the Northeast, especially the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte and Pernambuco. Therefore, there is scientific interest in knowing the seismicity in this region. The first step is to monitor these activities. In this sense, the Northeast Brazil Seismographic Network (RSISNE) is a sub-network of the Brazilian Seismographic Network (RSB) and was implemented in mid-2011 through the installation of 15 permanent seismographic stations. The stations are composed of broadband seismometers and accelerometers, transmitting the data via internet to the UFRN Seismological Laboratory (LabSis / UFRN) for further analysis. Thus, we aimed to prepare a seismic catalog for the Northeast of Brazil for 2016, with information on the time of origin, epicentral coordinates, depth and local magnitude of each event. Earthquakes were initially classified according to their distances between the epicenter and the nearest station as follows: local events (up to 1000 km distant), regional events (distance between 1000 and 2000 km) and telessisms (distances greater than 2000 km) . For this catalog were found 2561 earthquakes, being 1887 local, 309 regional and 365 telessismo. Then we located and determined the magnitude of local events, recorded in at least 3 seismographic stations. Of the total local events found, only 438 could be located. These data were processed using SEISAN seismological analysis software, which allows the localization and determination of local magnitude (ML) by the HYPOCENTER program. Our catalog reveals a percentage of 41% of the events found near the municipality of Caruaru, in the state of Pernambuco. With the histogram analysis, it was observed that most of the events occurred between 18h and 20h UTC, with shallow depth, concentrated between 0 and 10 km and local magnitude ranging from -0.2 to 1.8, reaching up to 3.9 ML. This pattern allowed us to infer the possibility that most of these events are anthropogenic, such as explosions. By the Gutenberg-Richter Law we obtained a value of 0.81 for the value “b”, close to the generic value of 1. A significant amount of the identified local earthquakes were not found due to errors in the localization program.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Nordeste do BrasilSismicidadeCatálogo SísmicoElaboração de um catálogo sísmico para o ano de 2016 no Nordeste do BrasilElaboration of a seismic catalog for 2016 in Northeastern BrazilbachelorThesisGeociências
