Within this complex scenario, the institutional role of entities such as ApexBrasil becomes a focal point, wielding substantial influence over the trajectories of the internationalisation phenomenon. The research unfolds through three distinct yet mutually complementary articles, each contributing with unique insights to the conceptual and practical realms of internationalisation ecosystems, forming a cohesive theoretical framework. Article 1 focuses on formulating a research agenda to comprehend ApexBrasil's influence on academic research in export, internationalisation, and foreign trade. Article 2 introduces the novel concept of the internationalisation ecosystem, incorporating a theoretical framework to integrate modern International Business Theories into an ecosystemic perspective. Article 3 conducts an exploratory qualitative case study to analyse ApexBrasil'sinstitutional role, identify emerging patterns, and offer a grounded understanding of its position in Brazil's business internationalisation landscape. The research employs an exploratory and descriptive approach, utilising qualitative and quantitative methods. Article 1 conducts a case study with a systematic literature review, documental analysis, and expert panel interviews. Article 2 presents a conceptual academic work based on a systematic literature review through the lenses of content and thematic analysis. Article 3 utilises an exploratory qualitative case study with, documental analysis and semi-structured interviews, employing content and thematic analysis as well as grounded theory, whilst using the software Iramuteq and ChatGPT to further the thematic landscape. The research yields unprecedented theoretical insights and practical implications for International Business Studies. Article 1 highlights the scattered knowledge about ApexBrasil's influence on scientific research and proposes a research agenda to bridge gaps between ApexBrasil, academia, and stakeholders. Article 2 reveals the internationalisation ecosystem as an incipient topic and proposes a multidisciplinary framework integrating businesses, entrepreneurial, innovation, and platform ecosystems. Article 3 emphasises ApexBrasil's pivotal role in fostering strategic alliances and knowledge transfer, testing existing theories on business ecosystems and helices dynamics. The articles contribute both conceptually and in practical terms, with Article 1 being the first to investigate ApexBrasil's impact on Brazilian academia. Article 2 proposes a novel theoretical framework, and Article 3 provides grounded theoretical perspectives on ApexBrasil's role through a reinterpretation of the Triple and Quadruple Helix model, significantly contributing to extant International Business theoryAcesso AbertoInternacionalizaçãoEcossistemas de InternacionalizaçãoTeoria de Negócios InternacionaisAlianças EstratégicasApexBrasilTripla e Quádrupla HéliceEstudos sobre ecossistemas de internacionalização: agenda de pesquisa, estrutura conceitual e dinâmicas InstitucionaisdoctoralThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS
