The general objective was to analyze the issue of the archive in the municipality of Caicó/RN as a public problem from the perspective of the multiple streams model to form a public agenda for Municipal Archival Policy. The research revealed that, despite the national political scenario pointing to a favorable convergence with the public agenda of the National Archives Policy - a framework that guides the decisions of public managers regarding archives in the country - the local context does not yet lack actions that guide decisions. To the local public agenda directed to archives. Among the weaknesses identifies are inadequate physical facilites, lack of financial resources, and lack of clear work methods. In addition to highlighting the lack of archival management instruments such as the Document Temporality Table and the Classification Plan. These weaknesses compromise constitutional and municipal prerogatives related to the right of access to public information in the municipality. As considerations, the study offers contributions so that municipal management recognizes the issue of archives as a relevant public problem, aiming, from the point of view of social impact, to improve the organization, preservation and access to public documents.
