Proposes a scanning model for memorial systems (D4SiMem), supported by planning, capture, treatment and preservation, contributing to process and activities standardization, to be executed at local and cooperative levels. Defines the concepts of Information System, Technological Information Systems, and Memorial System. Therefore, highlights scanning as a process whose purpose is to convert a physical document into an informational unit in digital form. For its implementation, the quadripolar method was applied, to observe de scanning process performed at the memorial archive of the Drought and Semi-arid Thematic Group (NUT Seca, Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte) and the Laboratory of Information Technology (LIBER, Federal University of Pernambuco).
