Um artífice mineiro pelo país: formação, trajetória e produção do arquiteto Herculano Ramos em Natal. 2016. 153f. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação em Arquitetura e Urbanismo) - Departamento de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2016.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/36846The presence of a king in the country caused a series of changes in the economic, political and social measures that consequently awaked Brazil to a more civilized society, according to the European parameters. With the arrival of the French mission in 1816, D. João VI creates a theoretical-practical artistic and technical-professional learning institute seeing the opportunity to capacitate Brazilians to "all the artistic manifestations, and primarily the recent techniques and resulting improvements of manpower". It was founded then, in Rio de Janeiro, the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts (AIBA). It is within this context that the work aims to support the analysis of a character very often cited although, poorly studied in Natal’s urban historiography: the architect Herculano Ramos. Moreover, almost "unknown" in the historiography of academic and eclectic architecture in Brazil in the second half of the XIX (nineteenth) century and the first decades of the XX (twentieth). He was born in Minas Gerais, attended the former AIBA of Rio de Janeiro from 1869-1876, he complemented his civil construction studies in Europe and was a member of various committees in Brazil. He arrived in Natal in 1902 and stayed here until 1914, having been one of the leading professional design and construction back then, being responsible for important constructions of the first stage of Modern Architecture in the Potiguar capital (Natal). The main objective of this research is to seek a greater understanding of the format and production of the incoming architecture graduates of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, looking at the works of the architect Herculano Ramos and its influence on the transformation of the urbe, and that constituted an architectural and urban legacy for the city of Natal.openAccessArquiteturaArquitetura acadêmicaHistoriografiaTransformação urbanaHerculano RamosUm artífice mineiro pelo país: formação, trajetória e produção do arquiteto Herculano Ramos em NatalbachelorThesis
