This research paper aims to show, through a brief experience report, the realization of a Portuguese course as a host language, offered to a group of Venezuelan refugees hosted by the NGO SOS Aldeias Infantis, in Caicó - RN. Our main objective was to show some of the methods and activities used, besides the main difficulties found in this action. According to Gomes de Matos (2014), teachers can practice simple positive actions that make them humanizing agents, such as knowing their students' stories, expectations, and desires.
