Drugs are important contaminants in aquatic ecosystems, and Ivermectin (IVM) stands out for its widespread veterinary and human use, with potential increase of its presence in the environment thanks to the intense use after the emergence of Covid19. In the present work the effect of Ivermectin on chlorophycean microalgae of the species Raphidocelis subcapitata (=Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) was tested, in order to demonstrate the influence of IVM on the growth of this phytoplankton microalgae in laboratory culture. For this purpose, a microcosm experiment was carried out under controlled conditions, artificial illumination at an intensity of 50 µmol/s/m2 and temperature between 22 and 24°C. Aliquots of one R. subcapitata culture were inoculated in medium containing concentrations of 0 (control), 0.10, 0.43, 1.75, 7.0 µg.L-1 (treatments) of IVM, all with four replicates during 6 days of incubation. The growth rate of the microalgae in the different treatments was quantified by counting the number of cells in the cultures.
