Dyslexia is characterized by difficulties in accurate and fluent word recognition, leading affected children to exhibit below-average performance in phonological processing for their age. There is a higher prevalence of dyslexia in boys compared to girls, and for this reason, this study aims to investigate whether there is a difference in the Phonological Processing performance between boys and girls with dyslexia. Objective: To describe and compare data on phonological awareness, phonological working memory, and rapid automatic naming skills in male and female children diagnosed with dyslexia. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive, and comparative study was conducted. Twenty-four medical records of boys and girls diagnosed with dyslexia were selected. Data on phonological processing skills were analyzed descriptively using means and standard deviations, and inferential analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test. Results: Both male and female groups studied exhibited lower-than-expected performance in phonological awareness, phonological working memory, and rapid automatic naming.
