The system was entirely assembled on a conventional lathe. A cylindrical bar of a quenched and tempered ABNT D6 tool steel was used as workpiece and a full and uncoated PCBN insert as cutting tool. In order to ensure that the other junctions of the system were kept under room temperature, avoiding undesired voltages, it was built a compensation circuit. Trials were performed from the room temperature to temperature around 400 ºC). The work-tool contact joint was heated with an oxiacetylene flame.
