This has led companies to increasingly focus on the quality of their products. In this regard, the production of cosmetics and their ingredients must adhere to updated Good Manufacturing Practices, as described in RDC 48/2013 by ANVISA, the regulatory body for health surveillance in Brazil. In the case of vegetable oils used as cosmetic inputs, it is essential to subject them to adequate quality control, including physical and physicochemical analyses. These analyses encompass the determination of density, refractive index, acidity index, peroxide index, iodine index, and saponification index. The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality control data of these inputs, specifically vegetable oils, and propose solutions to optimize the production and storage process based on approval and rejection rates. To achieve this, data provided by Plantus, a cosmetic input manufacturing industry, regarding quality control in the year 2022, were used. The results obtained revealed that the majority of rejections were related to non-compliance with peroxide, acidity, and iodine indexes, indicating issues with the quality status of these products. Additionally, possible alterations in the identity/purity of the oils were also identified.
