Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Gestão Pública) - Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2023.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/57245This is research on University Extension at the Federal University of Cariri (UFCA). It is known that Extension has in its scope the interaction between the University and society, and it is necessary to emphasize that its perpetuation goes through several challenges such as invisibility, people's and the academic community's lack of knowledge about its role. These factors, added to the case of the Covid-19 pandemic that broke out in Brazil in 2020, brought another major challenge to UFCA University Extension. Thus, causing the following problem: what are the contributions to the society of Cariri Ceará and the challenges faced in carrying out University Extension during the Covid-19 pandemic? In this scenario, the general objective of this work is to analyze the contributions and challenges of UFCA's extension actions during the period of social isolation, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, for the society of Cariri Ceará. To this end, the following specific objectives were established: a) carry out a survey of UFCA's extension actions during the period from 2018 to 2022 in the aforementioned institution's databases; b) present the challenges and contributions of extension actions to the training of extension workers and to the society of Cariri Ceará, recorded in the final reports of UFCA extension actions; and, c) develop an exhibition panel on the extension actions for UFCA, modeling experimentally between 2018 and 2022, through the Microsoft Power BI platform. For this, in the theoretical framework, theorists who deal with the origins and concepts involving University Extension, as well as Brazilian extension policy and University Extension in the context of UFCA, were approached. Regarding the methodological path, in terms of its nature, it is an applied research, in terms of its objectives being a descriptive study with a quantitativequalitative approach, in which bibliographical and documentary research was carried out with a time frame between the years 2018 and 2022 organized in three periods: Pre-social isolation (2018-2019), Social isolation (2020-2021) and Post-social isolation (2022). Thus, constituting 69 extension actions in its sample. In analyzing and processing the data, it was possible to compile and compare the collected data in order to identify the contributions and challenges in the execution of UFCA's extension actions. After the analysis, the proposal for the exhibition panel entitled 'Making Extension Happen' is presented, allowing us to work strategically in the elaboration/improvement of policies, instruments and planning of extension actions carried out at UFCA. It is concluded that it was possible to analyze the contributions and challenges of the actions of this institution before, during and after social isolation, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic for the society of Cariri Ceará, highlighting: the use of social media to expand the scope of actions; formation of alliances with other sectors of society even in the face of social isolation; It is. even in cases where the pandemic did not considerably influence the execution of extension actions. Therefore, as a practical contribution to this dissertation, the proposal of an expository panel developed in Microsoft Power BI was offered, which will provide transparent information and allow strategically designing interventions aimed at improving the achievement of the extension actions of the aforementioned institution.
