"Quando as nuvens eram nossas": um itinerário da trajetória musical de Oriano de Almeida. 2017. 159f. Tese (Doutorado em Ciências Sociais) - Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2017.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/jspui/handle/123456789/25069This paper consists of a translation from the social itinerary of the Brazilian musician Oriano de Almeida (1921-2004), specially his compositions and memories, with the aim of presenting a writing about himself underlying the narrated, a writing about himself that causes an overflow of narratives about his music education, elements forming a given social time of characters and places of the Brazilian artistic scenario, focusing on the first decades of the twentieth century. The paper approaches scenes of a national pianistics, the golden age of the piano schools and conservatories in Brazil. When talking about himself, Oriano reconstructs fragments of a social environment and gives meaning to his educational process, revealing nuances of his social journey in music. The landscapes of this thesis are outlined from scraps of his familiar context, the social and musical scenario of the Belle Époque of the State of Rio Grande do Norte and Brazil, the memories of the piano master, Magdalena Tagliaferro, and its pedagogical mediation, as well as the artist’s path remade by testimonies of acknowledgment of his work, through narratives contained in letters of family members, friends and internationally renowned Brazilian musicians. This writing brings a rationality that goes against the waste of social experiences and rests in an ecology of knowledge that produces visibility and acknowledgment, according to the opinion of the sociologist Boaventura de Sousa Santos (2001; 2006; 2007; 2008). Reason and sensitivity unite in this work from the perspective of a science that dreams (Almeida, M. 2003), as it presents the man Oriano and its affections, through a cartographic approach of his compositions of memories and letters about piano, career, things and people he missed and loved, and friendship with remarkable people of the musical and cultural universe of his time. In addition of letters, precious findings of research, two of them are compositions of memories of Oriano de Almeida used as the raw material of this paper: the unprecedented manuscript called Cenas Infantis and the book “Madgalena, dona Magdalena”, where he recorded his memories of interaction with the piano teacher Magdalena Tagliaferro, a Brazilian artist of international reputation. The reconstruction of chords of the life of this musician was also performed in dialogue with specialists of epistemological and social memory fields, particularly Ricouer (2004) and Halbwachs (1968). The tracing of this itinerary brings up a reflection on the social and scientific relevance of the studies of memories, social itineraries or life trajectories of notable people of the Brazilian art field, those who brightened the stages of life, while brought a knowledge of prudence and fight to the ostracism of their art.
