However, in a scenario of fiscal adjustment and underfunding of education policy, the effectiveness of inclusion and accessibility policies in higher education faces significant challenges. Given this, this study analyzes the importance of the Inclusion and Accessibility Policy for people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in accessing and remaining in higher education at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The research adopts a dialectical theoretical-methodological approach using bibliographic and documentary sources. The study discusses actions aimed at students with SEN at UFRN, focusing on the work of the Secretariat of Inclusion and Accessibility (SIA) and student assistance programs.
