To achieve this goal, the research adopted an applied methodology with a deductive and exploratory approach to reach the specific objectives, using documentary research as a method of data collection. The locus of the study is the Regional Hospital of Mato Grosso do Sul, which serves patients regulated for Medium and High complexity in the Health Care Network and is managed by the State but is part of the regionalized and hierarchical network in the Municipal Health Secretariat of Campo Grande. The hospital is classified as a large hospital, with 2,266 workers, 1,713 of whom are permanent employees, 535 temporary workers, and 18 commissioned positions. In addition, 100% of the management positions are held by career civil servants. The study uses the Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude (KSA) tool to measure the need for development of the hospital's professionals, aiming to improve the quality of care provided to the population. The KSA is able to measure whether the technical knowledge, behavioral aspects, and personal characteristics are those necessary for managers and workers to perform at a high level. The results of the research will contribute for the Regional Hospital of Mato Grosso do Sul to update its managerial training policy and contribute to the development of its managers, improving their adequate performance. Furthermore, the study may serve as a reference for the definition of competencies for hospital managers, allowing the management model by competence to reach differentiated results in the organizations that implement it.Acesso AbertoGestão de recursos humanosGestão por competência - hospitalTrabalhoDesenvolvimentoCompetências gerenciais e capacitação de gestores: um estudo no Hospital Regional de Mato Grosso do SulmasterThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE
