An action research-type field study was carried out using the qualitative descriptive method in a school of the Ceará State School, located in Fortaleza, with 34 students from a 3rd Year Night Class. The instruments used were: a) participant observation of Physical Education classes, through the use of the field diary; b) 03 questionnaires, 01 about the students' understanding about the internal logic of sports classification; 01 for the diagnostic assessment of sports classification and 01 for the final assessment of the development of a thematic unit on sports. The research was approved with the opinion of platform Brazil No. 3,305,816. The results were divided into participative planning, descriptions of the pedagogical intervention, analysis of the questionnaires, analysis of the possibilities and limits of a didactic unit about sports classification. Participatory planning has a lot to help in the teaching-learning process, as in the pedagogical intervention it is possible to notice the participation of students in the process of knowledge construction, either in the dialogical relationship, in the sports experiences or in the use of the media. The results of the questionnaires present elements that prove an increase in the students' learning, in most of the evaluated concepts, demonstrating that the pedagogical praxis relation facilitates the learning of both the student and the teacher.
