To this end, the general objective is to identify the main barriers that impact the implementation of information systems (ERP) from the user's perspective. Specifically, the study establishes four objectives: (1) to describe how the process of implementing the integrated information system occurred in the company under study; (2) to identify and validate the importance of relevant factors for software implementation from the user's point of view; (3) to identify the factors that constituted barriers in the event of system implementation failure; (4) to prepare a guide for implementing integrated information systems considering the barriers identified from the user's point of view. In order to achieve these goals, it uses descriptive research with an applied nature, a qualitative approach and a monographic perspective, with the support of bibliographical research. Studying the case in depth, the techniques employed for data collection were documentary research, questionnaires, and interviews with employees of the company under study. To interpret the empirical material, the information behavior models chosen were those of Wilson (1981) and Kuhlthau (1991) and we used data triangulation and content analysis by Bardin (1979). From this analysis, it was possible to define the factors relevant to the implementation of an integrated information system and how they constituted barriers in the users' view. The results indicate that the barriers perceived by users are related to the three dimensions proposed in Wilson's model (1981) – personal, social and environmental –, with the participants' informational behavior being directly affected by the correlation between personal and social barriers perceived in relation to the roles that users played within the context in which they were inserted.
