Care based on the essential attribute of longitudinality ensures a regular source of attention, its consistent use over time, construction of bonds and continuity of actions and information. The present study aimed to understand how the longitudinality of the actions of maternal and child care in Basic Health Units (BHU) is presented, in which the Multiprofessional Residency in Primary Care is inserted. For this, the actions were described, the challenges and strategies used, and it was understood the importance of residence in the guarantee of the attribute. This is a descriptive, qualitative, experience-based study, based on data collected from the researcher's reflective field diary, built during actions and maternal and child care services developed from March / 2018 to March / 2019 at the UBS linked to the Residency Program. Based on the territorialization process and the longitudinality attribute, it was identified that the residence stimulated and supported the FHT to offer shared prenatal consultation, pregnant women group, visit to the maternal and child hospital, puerperal visit, collective and shared child growth and development consultation, as well as timely collective and shared actions. It was noticed that the residency boosted and collaborated with regular actions, recognized by users and families, which established lasting therapeutic bonds and guaranteed informational continuity, promoting significant impacts on the professionals' work process, and on the perception and users' satisfaction regarding the quality, reception and bond of the services. It was understood that organization and integration among the FHT professionals in the care process has a great impact on the development of longitudinal actions, highlighting the importance of strengthening and valuing health residency programs due to the potential they have to qualify the work and care process in health care at BHU, reorienting its actions to ensure essential attributes for PHC such as longitudinality of care, and breaking with the logic of fragmented and unlinked follow-up.Residência multiprofissional em saúdeLongitudinalidade do cuidadoCuidado materno-infantilAtenção primária à saúdeMultiprofessional health residencyLongitudinality of careMaternal and child carePrimary health careResidência multiprofissional em atenção básica e ações de longitudinalidade do cuidado na atenção primária à saúde materno-infantilpostGraduateThesis
