The study of the topic is important because, in a globalized world, the practice of money laundering, increasingly refined and organized, presents itself as a global problem that requires permanent discussion and confrontation. In this sense, the objective of this research is to debate the need and effectiveness of cooperation policies, analyzing legislative difficulties. The qualitative methodology adopted was based on a bibliographical review, as well as the analysis of legislative texts and bills. As a result of the research, it was possible to infer that it is essential to promote international cooperation in the most diverse areas, in an attempt to curb illicit activity.
