The characteristics of BIM have been defined, its obstacles and benefits of implementation, as well as researching the main interferences between installation projects. By adopting the BIM methodology, it is going to allow the building under studies to avoid reworks and additional construction costs due to incompatibilities between project disciplines, given that the traditional way of planning in 2D CAD presents quite fragmented data, resulting in issues and omissions in projects. Consequently, a case study of a building was accomplished, in which the architectural and structural projects, hydrosanitary/rainwater and electric were developed and made available by professional partners through Autodesk Revit software and subsequently performed the interference detection automatically by the Autodesk Navisworks software. Thereafter, a total of 214 interferences between the project disciplines were identified and corrected, in which 56 were detected visually in the modeling process and 158 through Navisworks.
