The school environment, with its diverse dimensions and sociability, is subject to discriminatory situations of various kinds, whether racial, gender or class, which can be practiced by any member of the school community. The embarrassing joke, which at first is intended to cause laughter, ends up causing embarrassment, phobias and sadness in those who are the targets of the ridicule. Therefore, the school, as an environment for human formation, has the task of combating such practices with the aim of forming citizens who respect the diversity and uniqueness of individuals. This study aims to identify discriminatory comic practices at school, making them perceived by members of the school community, as well as proposing ways to combat them. The research was carried out by collecting speeches and performances in the school environment, as well as historically analyzing comic culture through literary, journalistic and media sources, using as a theoretical basis studies about laughter, humor and practices of racism and sexism, especially in Brazilian culture. Through the crossreferencing of sources and comparative analysis, it was possible to identify changes and continuities in the treatment of discriminatory humor practices in the media and in schools.
