To satisfy this problem, we sought to examine what Artificial Intelligence systems are and how they work. Subsequently, Law No. 9.610/98 was analyzed, observing its main aspects and highlighting how the author of a work is identified. The main challenges in attributing authorship and copyright protection in works generated by AI were also verified, discussing the gap in national copyright legislation and the possibility of an AI being considered an author. Likewise, the main solutions regarding the protection of copyright of algorithmic creations were considered.
