Implementação de competências relacionadas à oftalmologia em um currículo baseado em metodologias ativas de ensino. 2017. 33f. Dissertação (Mestrado Profissional em Ensino na Saúde) - Centro de Ciências da Saúde, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2017.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/jspui/handle/123456789/26599The teaching of ophthalmology, in order to meet the National Curricular Guidelines (DCNs), is still a challenge for medical schools in Brazil. This study aims to describe the implementation of the skills in ophthalmology in the Medical School of the Multicampi School of Medical Sciences of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (EMCM-UFRN). The course has a competency-oriented curriculum and develops its activities through active teaching-learning methodologies, based on the Problem Based Learning (PBL) and the community as the main practice scenario from the early years. The insertion of the essential skills in ophthalmology began to be delineated in the first periods of the course, from the pedagogical meetings of planning of the curricular components. Based on the learning objectives, the competences were implemented in the 3 (three) axes of the course (tutorial, skills and community) with the development of activities in the following modules and respective periods of the course: "Birth, growth and development" and "Perception , consciousness and emotion "(III period); "Fever, inflammation and infection" (IV period); "Sexual and reproductive health" (V period); and "Pathophysiology and bases of clinical reasoning" (optional after the third period). In the perspective of the development of the EMCM-UFRN medical course, which is currently in the sixth period, competencies not yet contemplated are being planned for the modules "Aging and Health" and "Emergencies" (VIII period), among others, as well as activities that reinforce some skills already implemented. In this way, we conclude that, in the case of a newly created course with an innovative pedagogical project and the curriculum being a dynamic process, the study allows visualizing and monitoring the implementation of essential competences related to ophthalmology longitudinally in the curriculum of the medical course of the EMCM, contributing to the training of the general practitioner.
