The new trends promoted by Instagram have significant impacts, especially on women, who have historically struggled against the standards of beauty imposed by society. Even in the modern era, it is difficult to break free from these standards, as social networks continue to perpetuate ideals of beauty and happiness in an inaccurate way. The normalization of plastic surgery in search of an ideal aesthetic puts lives at risk, promoting a search for a superficial appearance. The rapid transformations of other people, often shown on Instagram, affect the way women see themselves, causing self-image problems, eating disorders and psychological problems. In this context, this research investigated, through an exploratory study, the role of Instagram in women's decision to undergo surgical procedures. The results showed that all 20 participants spent a large part of their day using Instagram. The majority of respondents (55%) consume content related to aesthetics and beauty, following digital influencers and professionals in the field of cosmetic surgery. In addition, (80%) of the women feel pressured to change due to the influence of Instagram, and (50%) stated that they do not undergo surgical procedures due to financial constraints.
