Due to the growing number of elderly people in the world, the importance of the media, including the women's press, for social representations is highlighted. Using a methodology that includes bibliographical analysis, case study and content analysis, with qualitative and quantitative approaches, the investigation was divided into stages. The first of these found a total of 315 articles on the website in the period analyzed using the research keywords: ageing, old age and third age (golden age); 36 articles were then selected to reveal the main themes relating to ageing; and finally, the study presents three representations of old age through an analysis of nine publications. Among the results obtained, it was found that Claudia magazine promotes positive portrayals and reflective criticism in its representations of old age, valuing images of older women's autonomy. However, there are still negative views of old age, the reproduction of eternal youth, the promotion of stereotypes, the portrayal of ageing as something repulsive and the individual blaming of the elderly for social problems.
