Meu pet morreu, e agora?: uma análise acerca da destinação de animais domésticos de estimação no município de Natal RN à luz da legislação brasileira. 2021. 49 f. Monografia (Graduação em Direito) - Centro de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2021.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/51632The human being and his pets have a strong affective bond and, beyond those ties that unite them, there is an environmental concern, since with the increase in the number of animals new problems arise related to their destination after death. That's because animal corpses are potentially causing environmental damage, because similar to the human being, after decomposition they release cadaveric effluents like the necrochorume that can infiltrate the soil and in groundwater. In this context, the present work has for objective to analyze from the national legislation, how the domestic pets killed in the county of Natal are disposed of, considering the risks to public health and the environment, in order to contribute to the performance of the Public Authorities and with the advancement of research on the theme. Using bibliographic and documentary research as procedures, guided by the descriptive and explanatory objectives, under a quantitative and qualitative approach and using the hypothetical-deductive analysis method, it is concluded that it is necessary develop public policies aimed at disciplining and implement establishments like cemeteries and crematoriums, public and private to promote a destination ecologically suitable and dignified for animal corpses. From these understandings, and looking at them, as demonstrated in the course of the work, from extensive research on the topic, it is possible to affirm that it does not exist in the national legal system, and especially within the county of Natal, normative regulation about the destination of the corpses of domestic pets; which indicates the need for more attention, by the Public Power, on the issue.
