The still little explored issue is the relationship DRD with Diabetic Nephropathy (ND), which includes the classification of the stages of kidney disease according to the worsening of the disease. In this sense the objective of this article was to perform a review to gather and update information about pathophysiological factors, to elucidate the terminological relationship between Diabetic Nephropathy and DRD, to discriminate the 5 evolutive stages of ND, and to address the main classic renal markers such as creatinine and urea, besides the new markers for renal function such as transferrin, which can be allies in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients. The article searches were taken from specific databases such as Pubmed, BJHR and BVS aiming at a more delimited and safer screening.DiabetesDoença Renal do DiabetesNefropatia DiabéticaDoença renal do diabetes: artigo de revisãoDiabetes kidney disease: review articlebachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE
