Objective: The aim of this study was to verify the association between maternal age and the main neonatal conditions of their newborns admitted to the intermediate and intensive care units of a Brazilian hospital. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional, observational study using secondary data and a quantitative approach, carried out in a hospital in the municipality of Santa Cruz, Rio Grande do Norte, specializing in maternal, pediatric and neonatal care services. Results: 170 records were analyzed for the study, of which n=142 were from the group with maternal age < 34 years and n=28 were 35 years or older.
