The efficiency of this legislative change is investigated through the lens of the Economic Analysis of Criminal Law and punitive expansion, questioning whether this measure represents symbolic politics or an effective tool to combat gender-based violence. The research employs a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, utilizing documentary analysis and literature review. Findings suggest that while the new classification enhances the symbolic weight of femicide, its effectiveness in reducing violence relies on preventive and structural public policies. It concludes that increasing penalties for femicide, without strengthening protective and support measures for women, may result in a false sense of state efficiencyhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/FeminicídioAnálise econômica do direito penalViolência de gêneroLegislação simbólicaPolíticas públicasFemicideEconomic analysis of criminal lawGender-based violenceSymbolic legislationPublic policiesA tipificação do feminicídio como crime autônomo: entre a legislação-álibi e o combate eficiente da violência contra a mulherThe typification of femicide as an autonomous crime: between symbolic legislation and effective action against violence against womenbachelorThesisCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADASCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS
