This can lead to considerable changes in eating behavior from childhood. Objective: To evaluate the purchase and consumption habits of food in families with children under five years of age in the municipality of Santa Cruz / RN. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional, quantitative approach, carried out with 138 individuals in the six Basic Urban Health Units of the municipality. A structured interview was conducted with the application of questionnaires on socioeconomic information, food purchase and consumption habits, (In) food security and self-reported weight and height. The data were analyzed in the SPSS program. An association was made between the buying and eating habits of foods with socioeconomic data, nutritional status and food safety. Results: The consumption of natural juice or pulp (76.1%) and fruits (64.5%) in 5 or more days. hese data were associated with higher schooling.
