2025. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Bacharelado em Ciências Sociais), Centro de Ciências Humanas, Letras e Artes, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, 2025.https://repositorio.ufrn.br/handle/123456789/63067The present work seeks to converge a double movement of turns in the social sciences and resumption of classics to think about the present time from a reconstruction of the diagnosis of modernity of the German sociologist Max Weber, this being a tragic vision of a process of rationalization of the world, resulting in a growing polytheism of values manifested through axiological conflicts between differentiated cultural spheres, rationalized and possessing their own legalities. For this, three moments were conceived, adopting a methodological approach in two phases: a contextualist perspective, seeking to systematize the causes of this consequent polytheism, the disenchantment of the world [Entzauberung der Welt] and loss of meaning [Sinnverlust] of life, then a textualist approach, to analyze selected writings of Max Weber in order to explore the path taken by this thinker. From these two schematizations, we intend to analyze its potential to think about our present time, especially from the questioning of the extent to which the Weberian theory of the spheres of values can encompass problems of contemporary conflicts.
