However, the recent historiographic production evidences the presence of populations Tarairiú inhabiting the region Seridó, while archaeological studies show that there were occupations bearers groups of ceramic Tupinambá in the Serra de Santana. The same way, the report of Roulox Baro, coming from the dutch period indicates the presence of two native populations: the Tarairiú/Tapuia e os Tupi/Brasilianos. Therefore, the objective of this work is to identify, Analysis by etnohistórica, which indigenous groups who were contacted by Roulox Baro, by mid-century XVII, and the ranchers fronts, at the end of this century to the beginning of the century XVIII, the current region Serra de Santana. also sought to (1) see if there were more of an indigenous group in the contact time with the colonizers. The same way (2) was investigated, how was the process of concealment and disappearance of the Indians in the local and regional historiography.
