I understand that the evasion in higher education is an ancient worry of the universities and also of the public power. The general goal of this work is to identify the variables that influence the persistence trajectory of the accountancy students at the Rio Grande do Norte Federal University. For the development of this study, it was used as methodologic course, the Beuren classification (2012). About the object, the research was classified as descriptive, about the procedures, it was classified case studying and survey, and about the approaching focus, as qualitativeand quantitative. The data collection was made via questionnaire with students who at the 2020.1 semester were studying between the seventh and the tenth course period. The sample came by convenience and accessibility and had 60 answers. About the data analysis, it was used as theoric mode, the variables of the combined model of Tinto (1997) and Cabrera el al (1992) that could answer for the persistence of the students at the course, through the descriptive statistics and the content analysis, for the opened questions. As main attained results, we have: 58% of the students are coursing their first graduation, between then, 68% choose accountancy as first course option, among the 42% of the students who are in their second graduation, 82% choose accountancy as first course option, meaning that the courses choice auxiliated on the persistence. The students' satisfaction with the course has extreme importance to determine a successful trajectory at graduation, main students say they’re very satisfacted with the course. The main reasons quoted by the students for the course choice were the perspective of a huge and diverse working market, good payment, university quality, add knowledge to the current job and personal satisfaction by getting into a public university. The main difficulties mentioned by then were related to the lack of motivation to the studies and the absence of studying habits, inadequacy with the methodology used at classes and time unavailability.
