In this sense, Primary Health Care assumes a fundamental role in the approach, treatment and prevention of cases of ideation or attempts, with a view to welcoming, bonding and taking responsibility for the care of people in the territory. The objective was to analyze suicide prevention strategies that are carried out in Primary Health Care in the municipality of Currais Novos, Rio Grande do Norte. This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Data collection consisted of nonparticipant direct observation in the social equipment of the Psychosocial Care Network and the application of semi-structured interviews with doctors and nurses working in primary care in the municipality. The collected information was transcribed and submitted to the thematic analysis process. The results show that the demand for mental health is crossed by issues related to the high demand, lack and unpreparedness of professionals, as well as the disarticulation of the network.
