In the context of graduate education, the strategic management of program indicators is a challenge that requires continuous planning and monitoring of the defined goals and actions. The objective of this study was to develop a systematic self-assessment and comparative analysis for Graduate Programs in the field of Engineering III, applying it to the active Production Engineering programs. As a case study, the Production Engineering Program (PEP) at UFRN was used for SWOT analysis and the delineation of actions for strategic management planning. Accordingly, the methodology was conducted in three phases: (I) Document analysis (exploratory); (II) Construction of the self-assessment system and comparative analysis of graduate programs in Engineering III (systematization of data collection and delimitation of the study); (III) Self-assessment and Comparative Analysis of the Case Study (analysis and interpretation of the findings). As a result, an overview of the performance of production engineering programs in the last quadrennial evaluation was obtained, identifying the criteria and items with the worst and best performances. Furthermore, a self-assessment and comparative analysis for the Production Engineering program at UFRN was conducted through the application of SWOT analysis directed at the items on the program evaluation form.
