The simplified methodology proposed by the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANA) was used, which integrates topographic and hydrological data and geoprocessing tools in ArcGIS software. Using the Digital Elevation Model (DEM), technical data on the dam and satellite images, the flood wave propagation was simulated by calculating the maximum flow, hydraulic damping, delimiting cross-sections and calculating the maximum water level. The results indicated that the flood zone would be approximately 13 km², directly affecting the urban area of Macaíba, including neighborhoods, the shopping center and public structures such as schools and access roads. The methodology applied proved to be effective for risk analysis and emergency planning, and was notable for the simplicity and accessibility of the data required.
