As for the methodology, this is a descriptive study with a mixed approach, based on the Theory of Reasoned Action. The results suggest that teachers and students understand the concepts of open access and embargo, as well as realizing that embargoes can lead to delays in carrying out other studies. The students were indecisive about open access or embargo of the final work in the Digital Library, while the teachers were more adherent to the idea of proposing free access to their students. However, this positive attitude towards immediate access contradicts the practices, as it was identified that the embargo is a guideline from the teachers themselves to the students to deposit in the Digital Library of Monographs, reflecting the strong culture of publishing the final work (prepared in article format). Therefore, copyright issues in journals and, in particular, the fear of losing originality have contributed to the increase in embargoes. Therefore, the motivations that contribute to embargoes are: future publication, recommendation from the supervisor and fear of plagiarism. An action plan was therefore drawn up to disseminate the benefits of immediate open access among teachers and students, as well as to train them in the use of tools such as SHERPA/RoMEO and Diadorim, in order to help them with copyright issues related to the policies of journal publishers and to encourage the deposit of pre-prints in repositoriesAttribution 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/br/EmbargoAcesso abertoProdução acadêmicaTeoria da ação racionalAções para promoção ao acesso aberto imediato à produção acadêmica da Faculdade de Ciências da Saúde do Trairi: um estudo embasado na Teoria da Ação Racional: relatório técnicoActions to promote immediate open access to academic production at the Trairi Faculty of Health Sciences: a study based on the Theory of Reasoned Action: technical reporteducationalProduct
