In particular, the p-median and capacitated p-median models were used to find the best distribution of water fountains in a specific region, aiming to minimize the distance traveled by residents to the installed facilities. To conduct the experiment, a mapping of a neighborhood in the city of Caicó/RN was carried out using street intersection coordinates obtained through Google Maps. Candidate points for the installation of water fountains, such as religious temples, health units, and schools, were selected. The models were implemented in the Gusek tool, which uses the free and open-source software GNU Linear Programming Kit (GLPK) to solve linear optimization problems.
