In order to answer to this question this study intends to discuss the basic dimensions of primary schoolingof Black women who were born in the early decades of the 20th century, in order for the principle of law range to primary education to be ascertained in determination of enhancing personal and social life opportunities. Methodologically, this study was conducted to analyse the documentation corpus (interviews, educational law, school internal regulation, governmental messages, reports from the Director of the Department of Education) based on Magalhães’s (2014) and Teixeira’s (1968 and 1978) theories concerning the understanding towards schooling and literacy as well as the methods of schooling. As a conclusion, the principle of law to primary education to the 22 women held in this study, could be foregrounded as follows: the majority of the women researched (16) didn’t either continue or graduated from primary school; the minority of the women researched (6) continued to secondary school ginasial and normal.
