The species Bauhinia cheilantha, commonly known as "Mororó," is native to the Caatinga and is widely used in folk medicine due to its therapeutic properties, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticancer and hypoglycemic effects. However, are few studies about the characterization of secondary metabolites present in the species. In this way, the aim of this study was to characterize the compounds present in the Bauhinia cheilantha hydroethanolic leafs extract. The leaves were collected at Açu National Forest (FLONA), an area dedicated to combating desertification in the Caatinga biome through reforestation with native species. The study was performed using a metabolomic approach, with chromatography techniques and molecular networking softwares. The findings allowed a more comprehensive understanding of the secondary metabolites present in Bauhinia cheilantha leaves, revealing polar and non-polar potential chemical markers that have potential to be useful for extract quality control.
