Among the types of masonry, the sealing masonry stands out, and it's not produced in a rationalized way. In this context, pathological manifestations start existing both in construction processes and throughout the life of the masonry, in which the appearance of cracks outbreaks, and it’s presence can compromise the aesthetics, safety and functionality of buildings.The study of fissures, as well as their characteristic manifestations and probable causes, allows their formation mechanisms be known with great effectiveness, permitting better use in preventive and restoration measures. The present work, at first, shows initial concepts inherent to sealing masonry, and then lists the classification of cracks and their possible causes. After had solidified this knowledge, constructive techniques will be presented in order to prevent these pathological manifestations.
