With the arrival of large newsrooms, journalism focused on games gained a more professional appearance and was far from the writing it once had. In this process, something was lost regarding a freer writing model, which deals with the feelings provoked from the experience of playing a title. Kieron Gillen, a British journalist, in a text written in 2004, coined the New Games Journalism manifesto, in which he defended a journalistic writing model closer to literary journalism and that made the reader visualize stories, scenarios and characters present in the games. In this research, we intend to delve deeper into this reflection, raising the following question: would the “IGN Brasil” portal practice New Games Journalism in its game reviews? We seek to point out possible ways for a journalism that writes about video games as cultural units, verifying if the “IGN Brasil” portal could be an example of this. It was found in the results obtained through the method of Content Analysis systematized by Bardin (2011) that the writers of reviews published in “IGN Brasil” do not indicate, for the most part, subjectivity indices, nor do they adopt elements proposed by Gillen.Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Brazilhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/br/Jornalismo de GamesNews Game JournalismIGN BrasilO portal IGN Brasil e o manifesto do New Games JournalismbachelorThesis
