Its objective is to discuss the concepts of Information and Memory in Information Science, supported by the applicability of the General Systems Theory. It is based on reflections on classic texts by authors in the fields to present the concept of Information, fostering the emergence and consolidation of Information Science, going through the definitions of Memory up to the Systemic Theory. It is characterized as descriptive research with a qualitative approach, using bibliographical research to support the discussions. It concludes by understanding the importance of constructing a more specific concept of Information, the consolidation of the area of Information Science and the need for man to externalize and materialize his memory in media that transcend space and time.
